Summerwind Mansion The Haunted House
Summerwind Mansion has a mystery that known as the haunted house. Summerwind Mansion or Lamont Mansion is a warehouse on the western shore of Lake Vilas in Lake County, North East Wisconsin. It is reputed to be one of the most haunted locations in Wisconsin. Because of the abandonment, the state of the warehouse is now deserted and unattended. This situation prevails because there has been a major fire in the area that almost destroyed all the warehouses there.

Summerwind was originally constructed during the early 20th century as a fishing lodge. In 1916, it had been purchased by Robert P. Lamont who worked as an architect in the company of Tallmadge and Watson to substantially remodel the property and convert it into a mansion. He lived in Summerwind for approximately 15 years. Before, he had been warned by the maids that the mansion was haunted but he did not believe them. Finally, in 1930, he was witnessing an apparition n the mansion’s kitchen and made him abandoned the property suddenly. After Lamont's departure, the house was left empty and abandoned.
In the 1970s, the couple Arnold and Ginger Hinshaw bought the house and lived with their four children. Since the beginning of living there, this family was often disturbed by various strange events. Hinshaw reported a number of strange occurrences ranging from flickering shadows that appeared to move down the hallways, soft voices that stopped when they entered the rooms, unexplained electrical or mechanical problems, and sash windows that raised themselves. They also reported seeing the ghost of an unidentified woman who appeared several times in the vicinity of the house’s dining room.
Because they could not stand the pressure that they were experiencing in the haunted mansion, within six months Arnold suffered a breakdown and his wife tried to commit suicide. Arnold finally got into the hospital while Ginger moved to her parents in Granton, Wisconsin. In June of 1988, Summerwind was hit by lightning several times causing fire and burning down the house. So, many parts of the building were damaged. Strangely, the lightning just struck the mansion many times and not the taller trees around it. Today, only the house’s chimney stacks, foundations, and stone steps remain.
