Vinland The Discovery Of Unknown Land Of Wine
Vinland or land of wine is a lush and unknown abundant land far across the Atlantic. The stories began circulating in Dark Ages of Europe for a thousand years ago. For a long time, these stories as fables but then in 1957, Vinland map was really existed and released to the world. In addition, in 1961 a Norse settlement was found at L’Anse aux Meadows. The discovery provided evidence that the Vikings had entered sections of North America 500 years before Christopher Columbus.

Vinland was the name given to North America as it was explored by the Vikings, but before the discovery in 1961, Vinland was known just only from Old Norse sagas and medieval historiography. According to the Sagas of Icelanders, the great explorer Leif Ericson established a Norse settlement in North America named Vinland around the year 1000. Vinland is also mentioned in the work of Adam of Bremen in (1075) and in the Book of Icelanders compiled in 1122 by Ari the Wise.
Suddenly in 1957 news Vinland maps was released to the world and claimed it from the 15th-century world map. It shows Africa, Asia, and Europe and a landmass south-west of Greenland in the Atlantic Ocean labeled as Vinland. The discovery shocked the historian, so they tried to explain the origin of the Map.
Finally, after the chemical analyses in the late 1960s, it showed that ink ingredient from the 20th century. However, natural anatase has been demonstrated in various medieval manuscripts. The situation was made worse by the fact that the map was coated with an unknown substance in the 1950s. Many historians feel that the map might be a copy of one developed by Italian mariner Andrea Bianco in the 1430s. This might be the first map in the world to show North America, but it seems that we need to rethink our history because the world was already explored way earlier than we believe.
