D.B. Cooper Mystery Of Disappearance Skyjacker
The mystery of disappearance D.B. Cooper has become an American legend. D.B. Cooper is a skyjacker of Boeing 727 aircraft in Washington. He escaped by parachute then jumped from the plane with the cash into a wilderness area, somewhere between Seattle and Reno. His disappearance and identity are still unknown. A massive search involving a thousand troops, a submarine, and high tech photo recon spy planes failed to find any trace.

On November 24, 1971, an unidentified man purchased $20 one way ticket on Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 from Portland to Seattle under the identification Dan Cooper which became famous as "D.B. Cooper”. He was in his 40s, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall, and weighed 180 pounds with dark hair. He wore a black suit, white shirt, narrow black clip-on tie with pearl tie clip, black overcoat, and brown shoes, and was carrying a case. Then, Cooper passed a note to the flight attendant which read "I HAVE A BOMB IN MY BRIEFCASE. I WILL USE IT IF NECESSARY. I WANT YOU TO SIT NEXT TO ME. YOU ARE BEING HIJACKED." He then asked for $200,000 cash and four parachutes in order to release the passengers safely from the flight.
On the ground at Seattle Tacoma International Airport, Cooper was given the money and four parachutes. The crew was told to stay in the cockpit and fly low over Oregon’s flatland. In the speed 200 miles per hour and no higher 10,000 feet, he escaped by jumping from the plane with the cash into a wilderness area. All that was left was Cooper’s clip-on necktie.
The evidence suggests that Cooper died. Special Agent Larry Car concluded that no experienced parachutist would have jumped in the pitch black night, in the rain with a 200 mile per hour wind in his face. It was simply too risky. Still, FBI has investigated that cased. His disappearance still remains a mystery that making this case one of the most famous unsolved mysteries. And if Cooper did land safely and is still alive, he would be in his late 80s or early 90s today.
