Famous Mysterious Case Of The Silent Twin
One of the strangest and mysterious cases of the twin was about June and Jennifer Gibbons, the silent twin. The twins were as if mute or unwilling to speak except with her twin sister. The girls were born in 1963 to Barbadian parents and grew up in a small town in Wales called Haverfordwest. As growing up and mature, they had a peculiar way of speaking which could not be understood by others and even their own parents. Then, they were then taken to a number of different therapists at the age of 14 years old.

The therapists decided to separate the girls so they would talk to other people but it did not work. The girls were sent to separate boarding schools where they retreated into full-blown catatonia, neither speaking nor moving. When they were reunited, nothing changed they retreated to their bedroom and even refused even to have for meals. They expelled boredom by playing dolls and making a story drama used their imaginations. At Christmas 1979, they were rewarded with a diary. Since then, they began writing more extensively in their diaries.
They were now 16 years old. They chronicled their lives in detail in separate diaries. Those diaries record a heartbreaking transition that revealed the dark side of their twin. “We have become fatal enemies in each other’s eyes,” Jennifer wrote. “I say to myself, can I get rid of my own shadow, impossible or not possible? Without my shadow, would I die? Without my shadow, would I gain life, be free or left to die?”
On the other hand, June wrote, “She wants us to be equal. There is a murderous gleam in her eye. Dear lord, I am scared of her. She is not normal, someone is driving her insane. It is me.” From writing the diary, the twins decided to pursue a career in writing. They began writing novels and the subjects were dark too. June wrote entitled Pepsi-Cola Addict, an American boy addicted to Pepsi-Cola who was seduced by his teacher. Other writing was the boy whose surgeon father transplanted a dog’s heart into his body. All the novels they wrote were essentially about crime.
Their dark fantasies led to dark behaviors. They started drinking and using drugs. They broke into houses, smashed windows, and started fires. That behavior led eventually to their arrest. The twins were sent to the Broadmoor Mental Hospital and lived there for the next fourteen years. At the hospital, their behavior was quite confusing to the doctors. They always took turns to do everything not together. After for a long time in Broadmoor hospital, the twins decided one of them would have to die so the other could live. Jennifer, the stronger twin agreed to be the sacrifice in this fatal pact.
When they were nearly 30, they were finally released to a less-restrictive hospital in Wales. On the bus to Wales’s hospital, Jennifer laid her head on June’s shoulder and died. The cause of death was an undiagnosed infection of the heart. After a further autopsy, the doctors had not found any specific drugs or toxins in her body including any signs of damage to the heart and his death remains a mystery to this day. Strangely after the death of her twin sister, June directly interacted normally with the people around her.
