Mystery Green Children In Woolpit You Should Know
The story of green children of Woolpit was two children with unusual skin color who appeared and found by the villager in the village of Woolpit in Suffolk, England, in the 12th century, perhaps during the reign of King Stephen. The children, brother and sister had green colored skin, even though they appeared normal in all other ways. They spoke in unknown language and refused to eat anything except eat raw broad beans. After a long time, they learned to eat other food and lost their green color, but the boy was sick and died soon after they were baptized, but the girl recovered and adjusted to her new life.

After over the years she learned to speak English, she later explained their origin that she and her brother come from a place called Saint Martin's Land which was a dark place because the sun never rose far above the horizon, a perpetual twilight, a subterranean world inhabited by green people. They claimed that they were tending their father’s herd and followed a river of light when they heard the sounds of bells and suddenly found themselves by the Woolpit where they were found. She later married to a man at King’s Lynn the neighboring county of Norfolk. According to some accounts, she took the name ‘Agnes Barre’, although these details have not been verified.
The story was recorded by two 12th century chroniclers, Ralph of Coggeshall (died c 1228 AD), an abbot of a Cistercian monastery and William of Newburgh (1136-1198 AD), an English historian and canon at the Augustinian Newburgh Priory. Over the centuries, many theories have been put forward to explain this strange account. Two approaches have dominated the explanation of the green children, they are a folktale which describing an imaginary encounter with the inhabitants of another world, or it is a garbled account of a historical event. Some of the more unusual theories also proposed for the origins of the children are that they were Hollow Earth children, parallel dimension children, or Extraterrestrial children.
